Thomas H. McNutt is the founder of McNutt Law Firm LLC, an estate planning firm based in Bluffton, South Carolina. He helps individuals, families, retirees, and business owners create estate plans that are thoughtful, understandable, and not more complicated than necessary. His approach is built around practical advice, clear recommendations, and helping clients make informed decisions about their families, assets, and future.

Before founding McNutt Law Firm LLC, Tom served as an estate planning division director at a regional law firm, where he helped oversee estate planning services in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. His prior work in government relations and public affairs also shaped his approach to counseling clients by reinforcing the importance of clear communication, practical judgment, and focusing on what matters.

Tom grew up near the salt marshes of Bluffton, crossing the bridges to Hilton Head Island each day for school. After living and working across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, he returned home to the Lowcountry in 2019. That broader perspective now informs the way he works with clients: serious planning, explained clearly, with a process designed to make difficult conversations feel more manageable.

A proud “Double Deacon,” Tom earned both his undergraduate degree and law degree from Wake Forest University. He also earned a Master of Laws in Public International Law from the University of Oslo. Tom is admitted to practice in Georgia, New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, cheering on the Deacs, and trying to dominate trivia nights. He lives in Bluffton with his wife, two children, cat, and dog.
